Beyond the obligation in Article 4, the European Commission treats AI literacy as a strategic priority: raising capability among workers and the general population, and increasing the number of AI specialists across the Union.<\/p>\n\n

Obligation and ambition together<\/h2>\n

The Commission frames AI literacy as both a legal requirement for providers and deployers and a broader skills objective. The two reinforce one another, since a workforce that understands AI is better placed to adopt it safely.<\/p>\n\n

A shared reference point<\/h2>\n

The AI Office has gathered practices from organisations that took part in the AI Pact, showing how different companies have approached literacy in practice. It is a reference rather than a certification: following it does not by itself demonstrate compliance.<\/p>\n\n

What good practice tends to include<\/h2>\n

Recurring elements are an honest audit of where AI is already in use, training matched to what each role actually does, and a record of what was delivered and to whom.<\/p>\n\n
